An individual or firm that employs workers, and is responsible for their remuneration.

Description

Employers include everything from individuals hiring a care worker, to small businesses, to governments which employ thousands of workers.

The employer generally maintains control over the productive base of land and capital, and is the entity named in contracts.

Employers typically have certain responsibilities towards their employees but these can vary significantly depending on the country and the contract.
