An activist involved in protest movements and actions which are opposed to the dominant model of globalization.

Description

Members of the anti-globalization movement generally seek to protect the world's population and ecosystem from what they believe to be the damaging effects of globalization.

In the Western world, anti-globalization activists gained significant media coverage at the 1999 Seattle World Trade Summit. Since then, major anti-globalization protests have occurred at a number of recent meetings of international financial and trade organizations.

This extremely diverse network of activists seeks coordination through yearly World Social Forums.
