Supply network

The intra- and inter-firm transactions and forms of coordination that link company subsidiaries, affiliates and joint ventures with subcontractors, suppliers, service providers and partners in strategic alliances.

A supply chain is a special instance of a supply network. In a chain, raw materials, intermediate materials and finished goods are procured exclusively as products through a chain of processes that supply one another. The network is a more flexible form of organisation.
