Consumer cooperative

A cooperative created either to provide members with goods or services at a lower cost by increasing their purchasing power or to provide access to goods or services not readily available on the market or in the local area.

Consumer cooperatives belong to their members, to whom they offer a variety of products and services.

Consumer coops exist for housing, food, healthcare, recreation, educational goods and services, etc. They also exist for financial services.
